Amanda Bynes and 5150 Mental Health Hold: Monarch?

Okay… the headline here is a bit sensational, given that I did not know who Amanda Bynes is until this story broke. Consider this a preemptive post – a just in case. Uh, just in case like other Monarch victims (e.g., Britney Spears) she might have shaved her head because of the electro-shock torture employed as one of many horrific tactics to split the personality.

Regardless, something is wrong. Whether or not she is being set up or breaking her programming, or none of the above: she needs help and understanding.

My heart is with all who suffer in order to meet our insatiable demand for entertainment, as well as the manner in which our culture loves to build up celebrities only to tear them down. This, too, is programming.

Amanda Bynes has been detained on a 5150 hold for a mental health evaluation.

The 27-year-old actress was placed on a hold after she was involved in a disturbance in a residential area in Thousand Oaks last night, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to KABC Television,’s parent company, on Tuesday, July 23.

Deputies investigated the incident and determined that Bynes met the criteria of a 5150.

The Ventura County Fire Department received a call at 8:38 p.m. PT on Monday and responded to a report of a gasoline tank on fire in a driveway in Thousand Oaks.

Update – 1 p.m. PT: Witnesses at the scene told KABC Television that they saw Bynes on the driveway. They also saw a small plastic gas container on fire. Neighbors ran out and extinguished the fires as firefighters arrived.

One witness said he saw Bynes “laying down, stomach up, and her pant legs on fire…”

The woman who lives at the home where the fire was said she does not know Bynes and does not have a connection to the actress.

Bynes has made headlines for a string of arrests and odd behavior. Most recently, the 27-year-old wore a bright blue wig when she appeared in a New York court on July 9 to face allegations stemming from an arrest over a reported bong-throwing incident.
